Convert an image to WebP
WebP is the format to use when the file is going on a website: typically 25–35% smaller than a JPG that looks the same, and unlike JPG it keeps transparency. Every current browser displays it.
Questions
Is WebP safe to use yet?
Yes — every browser released in the last several years displays WebP. The remaining awkward cases are older desktop software and some upload forms, which is what the WebP-to-JPG converter is for.
Does WebP keep transparency?
Yes. WebP has a full alpha channel, so a transparent PNG converts without any background being filled in.
